Pleasantly Surprised! I hadn't been to Leeann Chin for a million years, okay maybe not a million, but at least 7....I used to be addicted to the buffet in DTs. All the cream cheese puffs, oyster wings and that salad with those air like crispy noodles...but I digress. There was coupon/sticky note on the front on my newspaper last weekend, so figured this was a perfect opportunity to check it out. I grabbed my favorite lunch buddy and we went on a recent Tuesday. We got there around 12:15 and the joint was hopping, but the line moved quickly. We were offered a sample of the new House Special Chicken. I didn't care for it - chewy, salty and too much soy flavor for me. I selected the Mongolian chicken with white rice and 3 cream cheese puffs. I also had a diet Mountain Dew. My coworker had the bourbon chicken with white rice and egg rolls. I was pleasantly surprised at just how good and fresh the chicken was. It had a nice kick and good flavor. I had a thing for sticky white rice. I could eat it by the bowl full, but never do, so this was a treat for me. The cream cheese puffs had a perfect balance of puff to cheese. They are as good as I remember. The hint of garlic really hits the spot. I just might add the place to lunch rotation. It's good choice for quick bite to eat without as much grease as some of the other places in the vicinity.

This is the cheaper version of PF Changs and I gotta say, I wasn't dissappointed. Funny story: My girlfriend and I were speaking in Spanish and the girl at the counter asked us what language were we speaking... WOW.

The packaged hot mustard they carry is severe and will burn the congestion right out! Stopped in for a quick bite. Place was fairly dead. Now I know this is not by any means authentic, but in a rush, it did the trick and hit the spot. Girl checking us out was a ray of sunshine very friendly and helpful and thanked us while she was on her break for coming in. I'm a sucker for their bourban chicken and fried rice- fast food style. Both were good and rice was not that greasy at all. J ordered the sesame chicken, mongolian chicken and white rice and the few bites I had were good. We went before the dinner rush, so they did not have a ton of stuff in the display case, but they were willing to make it to order. It was more than passable for the hurry we were in and the customer service was great!

LeeAnn Chin's used to be a great spot to get reasonable fast chinese food. Of course, this was 20 years ago when they first opened and hadn't expanded beyond their quality control. This was when they had a ginger beef salad of raw strips of steak, yumm! And shrimp toast. oily-icious! But now it is expensive, the food is all bland, and the fried rice has no flavor. A sad day.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
